Nel 1983, Jamie Kensit, chitarrista, fece un'audizione a sua sorella per il ruolo di cantante nella sua nuova band, gli "Spice". La line-up era formata inoltre da Geoff Beauchamp alla chitarra, Lawrence Lewis alla batteria e Nigel Davis alle percussioni.

Alla fine del 1984, Nigel Davis lasciò la Band per il proprio progetto 'Slipstream' e venne sostituito da Alex Godson alle tastiere; in quello stesso anno gli "Spice" si rinominarono "Eight Wonder" e Patsy Kensit cominciò a scrivere canzoni per la band. Il loro primo 

concerto fu nel novembre 1984 a Winbledon, Londra.

Nel 1985 firmarono per la CBS records e cominciarono a registrare in studio.

Nel mese di ottobre del 1985, il primo singolo "Stay With Me" ebbe un grande successo in 

Giappone e in Italia. Nel febbraio del 1987, uno dei brani prodotti da Chapman, "Will You Remember?", raggiunse la Top Ten in Italia e nello stesso anno parteciparono come ospiti al festival di Sanremo.

Ormai giunti all'ultimazione del proprio album Godson venne sostituito dal batterista Steve Grantley. "I'm not scared", co-prodotto e scritto da Phil Harding e i Pet Shop Boys, venne scelto come singolo.

Il pubblico lo accolse con forte entusiasmo, tanto che entrò nella top ten di tutti i paesi europei, raggiungendo la posizione numero 1 in Italia, numero 2 in Svizzera e Portogallo, numero 3 in Spagna, 4 in Germania, 7 in Gran Bretagna e 8 in Austria.

Anche i Pet Shop Boys registrarono la propria versione di "I'm not scared" per il loro album "Introspective".

Nel Maggio 1988 venne composto un altro singolo di grande successo "Cross My Heart".

"Fearless" uscì nel luglio 1988, e in ottobre raggiunse quasi 500.000 copie vendute a livello internazionale.

Nel 1989 il singolo "Use Me" ebbe molto successo in Giappone, ma poco dopo, la band si separò e Patsy Kensit si concentrò esclusivamente sulla sua carriera da attrice.

The London-band Eighth Wonder might be all but forgotten had they not counted actress and celebrity Patsy Kensit one of their ranks. It was in 1983 that 14-year old Kensit became lead singer of brother Jamie Kensit's fledgling band, Spice. Rounding out the original lineup 

were guitarist Geoff Beauchamp, bassist Lawrence Lewis, drummer Jake Walters, and a friend named Nigel providing additional percussion. By late 1984, Kensit was contributing more to the band's music and they had changed their name to Eighth Wonder. By 

Christmas, the group was attracting attention and Kensit had landed the lead female role in a musical film based on the book Absolute Beginners. Eighth Wonder was given the opportunity to include a song to a soundtrack featuring songs by David Bowie and Ray 

Davies. Signing to CBS in early 1986, they worked on a debut album while Kensit filmed the movie. By the time Fearless had been completed and released in July of 1987, Eighth Wonder had issued a string of singles that had found success across Europe. Fearless 

sold well in the U.K. and the group (now a quartet) even notched minor chart singles ("Cross My Heart" and "Baby Baby") in the U.S. Eighth Wonder then quickly faded away, with Patsy Kensit going on to success in movies and being known for her involvement with a number of high-profile musicians.
