Gli Arcadia sono stati un gruppo musicale britannico formato da Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes e Roger Taylor dei Duran Duran durante un periodo di inattività della stessa.

Gli Arcadia nascono come "side project" della band inglese Duran Duran a cavallo tra il 1984 ed il 1985 (ossia all'acme della loro carriera), in una fase di stallo dell'attività del gruppo: conclusosi il tour di Seven and The Ragged Tiger e dati alle stampe il relativo 

album live Arena comprensivo dell'inedito in studio Wild Boys, il bassista John Taylor ed il chitarrista Andy Taylor avevano dato vita all'altro progetto parallelo Power Station avvalendosi della collaborazione di Robert Palmer e Tony Thompson.

Arcadia origina, dunque, dall'intendimento del cantante Simon Le Bon e del tastierista Nick Rhodes (cui si associò l'altro band member Roger Taylor) di colmare la fase di vuoto dell'attività del main project, anche se non è difficile scorgere nell'iniziativa una forma di risposta al progetto Power Station.

Arcadia costituisce, per certi versi, la summa di una parte degli stilemi musicali e più latamente estetici della prima fase del progetto Duran Duran: non è in tal senso casuale che un commentatore dell'epoca, con malcelata vena critica, abbia definito So Red The Rose come il disco più ambizioso mai realizzato nella storia della pop music.

Arcadia were a pop group formed in 1985 by Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes and Roger Taylor of Duran Duran, as a side project during a break in that band's schedule. The project was active for just one album, So Red the Rose, which was certified Platinum in the United 

States and included the hit single "Election Day". Drummer Roger Taylor appeared in only a few band photographs and in none of the music videos, and stated he was only to be involved in the recording side of the project (he also had minor involvement in The Power 

Station, the other Duran Duran splinter group formed by Duran Duran members Andy and John Taylor alongside Robert Palmer and Tony Thompson of Chic)

The name of the band was reportedly inspired by the Nicolas Poussin painting Et in Arcadia ego (also known as "The Arcadian Shepherds"). At the same time that So Red the Rose was in production, Asia were recording their third album, also tentatively titled "Arcadia". Prior to release, Asia renamed their project "Astra" to avoid confusion.
